Dr. Malik ("Dr. M&M" as children call him) grew up in Sarasota and comes from a family of dentists, his father practiced general dentistry in Sarasota for over 35 years and his sister practices orthodontics in Houston. He is fluent in Spanish, Punjabi, Hindi and English.

Dr. Malik attended Temple Emanuel, Julie Rohr Academy, and Pine View School in Sarasota before embarking on his dream to become a pediatric dentist. In his freshman year of college, while volunteering at Miami Children's Hospital, Dr. Malik realized he loved working with children. After completing undergraduate studies at the University of Miami, Dr. Malik left for “gator country” to attend dental school. Dr. Malik graduated dental school from the University of Florida College of Dentistry at the top of his class as a decorated scholar.

After dental school, Dr. Malik completed his pediatric dental residency at one of the nation's top programs - the Baylor College of Dentistry in association with Children's Medical Center of Dallas and Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. He then went beyond residency to complete his board certification in pediatric dentistry - certifying him as Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.

After working in the Dallas/Fort Worth and East Texas area for several years, Dr. Malik moved back to his hometown and opened up a one-of-a-kind pediatric dental practice. From office layout and interior design to marketing and operational systems, Dr. Malik personally created his dream practice for children and parents to enjoy – SmileWorks Kids Dentistry. Today, the practice strives to provide every child with the highest quality of pediatric dental care in a fun, safe, and engaging environment.

True to his nature, Dr. Malik is actively involved in community and professional organizations while managing his growing private practice. Dr. Malik has served on the Board of Trustees for Forty Carrots Family Center, a local non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of children, and he currently serves on the Pine View Association (PVA) Board as the school’s Alumni Representative.

Dr. Malik, his wife, and three children live in Sarasota. In his free time, Dr. Malik enjoys spending time with his family and friends. His other interests include aviation, travel planning, home improvement projects, fishing, cycling, watching NBA and NFL, and family trips
